Designate a marketing person. To develop, implement and maintain an effective referral marketing program, Levin Group recommends that every ortho practice adopt a concept we pioneered in 1987—the Professional Relations Coordinator (PRC). This part-time staff member is responsible for doctor and patient referral marketing, which if done properly takes 16–20 hours every week. Adding a PRC to the staff is critical because few doctors have the time or marketing know-how to handle a large number of ongoing marketing activities.
