Make eye contact with surgical patients. Whether you’re working directly with patients or just passing them in the hall, you can make a strong, instantaneous connection with them by making eye contact. Even without words, this simple form of personal communication—accompanied by a smile—tells patients that they are your primary concern. If you look away, focus on paperwork or otherwise ignore them, it will detract from their experience at your practice.
