Be as specific as possible when speaking with patients. Avoid statements, like “Come in around 2:00.” In patients’ minds, this means that you have given them permission to show up sometime before or after the hour. Instead, provide patients specific instructions, such as, “We would like to see you at 1:50 this Thursday.” This type of clear communication makes it easier for patients to comply with your requests.
