Continual improvement. There’s a lot of noise in the book writing world about how to improve your habits. They talk about improving one percent at a time without ever really defining that. Long before these new authors brought out their books to make habit change seem easy, Dr. Edward Deming founded the science of Total Quality Management (TQM). This science, used by many of the most successful companies in the world, including Toyota, is completely based on the concept of continual improvement. Whether it’s 1%, 5%, or 10%, the foundation should be a culture of continual improvement.
