Be compassionate with patients about the economy. If a patient expresses concern about accepting treatment because they are worried about the economy, your response should be one of compassion. Simply saying “we have financial options” or “let us know” is not the right approach. The first step is to commiserate with the patient and let them know that you understand, and they are not alone. Then let them know that as a caring and compassionate office, your practice has established opportunities for any patient to take advantage of financial options that will allow them to have treatment. Start with compassion and then move on to financial options.
