New patients are a great revenue booster. Some practices spend a lot of money on marketing to attract new patients. Others are simply fortunate to have a strong stream of referrals. Either way, the time, effort, and importance of new patients should be maximized by having as many new patients as possible who contact the office scheduled for an appointment. Believe it or not up to 15% of new patients don’t schedule after contacting the office. Most offices are unaware of this because it happens at random and there is no tracking or measurement performed in most practices for this statistic. If you could increase your new patients by even 5% using a better process that we refer to as the New Patient Experience, the results would be significant and would increase practice revenue by $2 to $3 million over a 36-year career.
