Don’t confirm new patients by text message only. Our research and observation indicate that relying on confirming new patients only by text often results in a higher new patient no-show rate. Given that new patients represent 200 to 300% higher revenue in the first 12 months versus the current active patient, a new patient who doesn’t show up is a significant loss to a practice. One way to increase the number of new patients who show up is to turn the confirmation text into, or augment it with, a live welcome call where the patient can be welcomed into the practice and reassured how much you’re looking forward to meeting them.
