Check-in with your patients. In this case we are referring to checking in with patients about something that isn’t not going well in their lives. They may have a parent or spouse who is ill. Someone in the family may have lost a job. They may even be experiencing a fairly normal event like a child with a broken arm. Make a note to check in about a week later just to see how they’re doing. This is not about getting too personal, but about caring and parents and patients will have tremendous appreciation for the outreach.
